How do I split a wedding budget?
Start with the categories that scale with guest count (venue, catering, bar, rentals), since they usually take the biggest share, then set the rest by what matters most to you. This calculator lets you set any percentage per category and shows the dollar amount and cost per guest.
What does cost per guest mean?
Your total budget divided by your guest count. Cutting the guest list is often the fastest way to lower total cost, because food, drink, seating and favors are priced per person.
How much should we save each month?
Subtract what you've already saved from the total budget and divide by the number of months until the wedding. Deposits are often due months earlier, so check vendor contracts.
Should I keep a buffer?
Many couples keep a contingency line for overages, tips and last-minute items. The calculator includes one you can resize.
